Cold Weather Ahead! Check Your Ignition System

One of the most common questions we get at C-Tech from customers involves the ignition system and components this time of year.  Let’s walk through some of the primary ignition parts for the most popular aerial lifts and scissor lifts in the market.

As the weather gets colder in many parts of the United States, carbureted engines may experience difficulty in colder weather conditions below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.  It might be time to start troubleshooting the ignition system, including the following:

Battery

Oil pressure switches

Spark plugs

Solenoids

Once you have determined that battery and spark plugs are not the issue and the solenoids are getting the proper voltage, it is time to examine the ignition system. First, check the ignition coil, which transforms the battery’s voltage into the volts required to create an electric spark.  If the engine is misfiring, has a rough idle, or loss of power many times, it may be the coil that is causing the poor performance.

If you determine you need a new ignition coil, two of our top selling Genie coils are:

Genie  32076 Genie Ignition Coil, commonly used on the Kubota WG750 and DF750 scissor lifts.

Genie 28664 Genie Engine - Ignition Coil - Ford C-Tech has them in stock and available to order online.

If you need help selecting or confirming the serial number and ignition components, we offer the highest quality ignition parts and same-day shipping in most cases.  Contact us at 877-755-4311, email us at info@ctech-ind.com or chat with us live on our website.
